  • The process of internment may try not to punish the innocent, but we cannot deny the fact that we are taking back the rights of the person who is charged by not providing him any scope for defence. The detainees are also humans and every human life is equally precious, be that be the chairperson, President, Prime Minister or a normal civilian. No life can be valued less in comparison to others.

It is understandable that internment is a process during emergency and crisis situation when we lack quality time for trials. But if we are not competent enough to wrap up the trials in a quick manner, then that should not be reflected on the life of some other individual. Se should try to find the procedures to fasten our legal process to have a verdict at the earliest possible.

Internment definitely needs some sort of amendment especially keeping in mind the human rights and value of life. We cannot abandon the internment process all together, as the process and procedures definitely would change their course at the emergency situation. We cannot expect a similar trial as during peace time during the internment. Yet, we can try to improvise the legal procedure to provide better brackets for the charged individuals to produce their stand.
