Democracy is hampering India's progress

Democracy is hampering India's progress

India is known to be a democratic country, but is democratic in true means or is it just a notion that India is a democratic country?

For:

- The basic meaning of democracy is that we have the public has a say in the matters of the country, for example electing our ministers. Democracy helps us in making or applying changes in the government without any violence taking place
- The politicians and the representatives elected by the general public are not proficient enough to run the country in an effective and in a competent way
- Democracy applies en-number of rules and restrictions on profit making industries, thus hampering their working abilities, especially in terms of profits

Against:

- Even the autocratic and dictator ruled countries had their own problems, but democracy is the best way to manage a huge country like India
- Though we yet choose and vote for our representatives, but most of the public is yet uneducated and do not have the capability to judge and identify the correct person for them
- The voting of the representatives is often influenced by the majority around them

Conclusion:

- Democracy is the preeminent form of governance as of now; it’s the people’s accountability to choose the leaders in an effective way so that they can work in progress of the country and in the favour of the public.

  • Democracy can never hamper any nation’s progress. It is in the hands of the people to regulate their governance in the efficient manner. A good lot of intelligent people would definitely find the democratic policies much better over any other forced regulations. If people get to think wisely and have the feeling of patriotism to save the hard earned freedom, then definitely the democracy would fetch them much better prospects for a safer living.

Democracy is total freedom for the people which a nation has provided to its citizens. Our country is a bouquet of different collection of flowers beautifully knitted and wrapped under the cover of democracy and legal frame work. For the country to progress, democracy provides all sorts of rights to its citizens. It becomes the duty of the citizens to run the chariot in a controlled manner.

People of India should first learn their rights and the procedure to excise and retain their rights and duties. Without the awareness of the basic fundamental rights, the citizens can hardly enjoy the democracy and in turn regulate the governance in the efficient manner.

To be precise, it is not the democracy that is hampering India’s progress, but the lack of dutifulness, carelessness and ignorance of the citizens is proving to be the greatest hurdle for the progress of our country.
