Blind faith is the second name of religion

Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan sect is in news since last eleven months. Ashutosh, the head of DJJS sect was declared "clinically dead" on January 29 this year. However, the followers of the DJJS sect said that the leader is not dead and is in deep meditation. They are against the court order as per which they are required to perform the last rites of their guru within 15 days. The body of guru Ashutosh is kept in deep freezer. The incident like this makes a mockery of religion. In fact people are forced to believe that like love, religion is also blind. What is your opinion on the topic: Blind faith is the second name of religion?

Yes

• A body which is declared dead by team of doctors and is kept in deep freezer since last eleven months is said to be alive. Even if Guru Ashutosh was in meditation, why is his body kept in freezer?

• The incident again throws light on Rampal issue that happened last month wherein the saint used children and women as his shield against the law.

• The followers just pour in money and contribute in making these saints earn money and power in society.

• Remember another god-man Asaram Bapu who was arrested by police under not very respectable conditions.

• People see the reality but don’t believe until and unless these saints are caught red-handed doing illegal activities. They keep on protecting such people braving their own lives.

• Not only the people, but government is also a part of blind faith that wastes money on security of such people.

No

• One of the pillars for establishing religion is faith, but it guides human race and not blinds them. As science works on hypothesis, religion works on good faith.

• The problem is not with the religion, but the problem is with mankind who directs and uses the religion to accomplish its selfish objectives.

• Religion preaches to be fair with everyone and follow the simple rules to stay happy. It never preaches to follow the saints blindly.

• Religion is all about contributing a part of your earnings in a noble cause, not for fulfilling the accounts of saint.

• One should always remember that the spiritual books like Geeta and other Vedas never asks to turn a normal man into God-man. It is the people who forget the basis and turns towards deception.

Conclusion

Most of the people must have seen the movie, Oh My God, featuring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. It is true many followers of religion have disregarded the important religious teachings of equality and goodwill. But, more significant message of any religion is that man is equal before God. There are some people who possess ample knowledge to guide this world. However, they are a part of this world. They should be questioned when you feel they are wrong, and they are liable to answer them. It is the same case with Guru Ashutosh. The sect followers have to present the facts linked with the matter. They just cannot keep on fooling the people, government and law for their personal benefits.

  • There is a big difference between blind faith and superstition. So is the difference between the religion and the religious preachers. Blind faith can be on someone who is emotionally attached. Anyone can be in blind faith with the religion, which imparts nothing but a supreme power namely God. Those who believe in God can be in blind faith to have some miracle from the supernatural force beyond the control of humanity.

But, on the other hand, it would be foolishness to compare religion alias God with the saints who portray them as God-man. These saints are also fellow human beings and do not possess any more power than all others. It is just the superstitious belief and foolish behaviour of the Indians out of which these saints are making money. We ourselves are getting into this vicious circle by keeping our brains to deep slumber and wandering with our foolish beliefs.

Even a blind person tries his level best to perceive the things with his other senses and succeeds in his struggle for life. But the normal people under the cover of false belief and superstition get victimised to these saints. On more soft terms we call these superstitious people to be in blind-faith for someone.

Blind faith is not the second name for religion, but it has become a synonym for superstitious beliefs and foolish workouts in the flow of superstition. We can find majority Indians, especially the females becoming prey to these fake saints. It is definitely not the religion they are following, but the simple way they find to get relieved of their troubles and traumas. Hence, we cannot call the blind faith to be any good replacement for the term ‘Religion’.
