Gandhi peace Prize, 2013


Environmentalist Chandi Prasad Bhatt has been selected for the Gandhi Peace Prize for the year 2013. This decision was taken by the jury for the prize under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. He was born in the year 1934 and has been closely associated with the Chipko Andolan and has also won Roman Magsasay award in the past.

Held in Dubai, u-19 WC was won by South Africa after defeating Pakistan in the final.

World’s largest aircraft unveiled in Britain


Britain has unveiled the world’s largest aircraft, the Airlander, which is 300 feet long and it is part plane, helicopter and airship. The new craft is longer than the current record holder, the Russian Antonov An-225, which is 84 metres long, and the Boeing 747-8, at 76 metres long.

Largest solar plant of India in Madhya Pradesh


India’s largest solar plant was launched in Bhagwanpur in M.P. with a capacity of 130Mw. The estimated cost of this project is around 1100 crore by Welpsun solar MP Project. All the solar plants have been initiated under the Jawahar Nehru National Solar mission which was launched in 2010.

Committee to study the demand for Bodoland state


The union govt. formed an expert committee to study about all the viable options for the demand of a separate Bodoland state in Assam. The one man committee under the chairmanship of former home secretary G K Pillai has been given a nine month time to seek views from all the sections of the society about their view for a separate state bodoland carved out of Assam.

HPCL’s first woman chiefNidhi Vasudeva became the first woman to head a PSU as she took over as the chairman and managing director of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited. She took over the reins from Sudhir Roy Choudhary. She is an IIM graduate and is also the vice president of World Petroleum Council.

India and Saudi Arab sign MoU


India and Saudi Arab signed pact on defence co operation for the partnership of both countries in the field of security. Saudi Arab is the largest supplier of crude oil to India and Inida’s fourth largest trade partner with a bilateral trade of 43 billion dollar in 2012-13.
