Report of Amnesty International


As per a new report released by Amnesty International, China has executed most number of people in the world followed by Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia and USA. All over the world, the rate of execution has grown by 15%. Afzal Guru was the sole person executed in India during that period.

Chess Championship 2014


Vishwanathan Anand of India will challenge Magnus Carlsen or Norway in the World Title Match to be held in November 2014. Anand won the World Candidates chess tournament at Khanty Mansisyk (Russia) by drawing his tie against Russian Sergey Karjakin in the previous round. He has also become the first chess player in the world title matches to win in all the three formats – knockout, double round robin and match play.

Investothon, 2014


The National Stock Exchange (NSE) organized the 30th “Investothon” in Mumbai to create awareness among investors and market dealers about investing safely. NSE, the country’s leading stock exchange, has been organising Investothon across cities such as Bangalore, Pune, Bhubaneshwar, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Indore, Vadodara and Jaipur, apart from the metros, since 2011.

Best fund house award


ICICI Prudential has won the best fund house award in the debt, equity and multi asset category given by Morning Star India, which recognises funds and fund houses that added most value for investors. The award is designed to help investors identify the year’s most exceptional funds and fund houses.

FICCI’s prediction of growth


FICCI has predicted that Indian economy will grow at a rate of 5.5% in 2014-15 and the industrial sector will grow at a rate of 3.3%.

Top outsourcing destination for 2014


As per a study of nine Asia pacific countries, India and China are the top most outsourcing destinations. Nearly 48 per cent and 45 per cent of clients surveyed in 2012 were using these countries for nearshore or offshore outsourcing respectively.
