Yahoo acquires “vizify”, a startup company


Yahoo, the global Internet company acquired a startup company named “Vizify” which will enable its users to create unique visualizations based on the data which they will share online, creating a type of internet biography. Vizify is also an American company and a group of its team will work with the media group of Yahoo in San Francisco.

World Dentist Day celebrated on 6 March


World dentist day was observed all over the world on 6th March to raise awareness about dental health. This day is celebrated to appreciate the service of dentists across the globe and to raise awareness about tooth and gum problems.

3D model of Human finger print developed


3D model of human finger print is developed by Indian American scientist Anil Jain. Here, the ultimate goal is to have a precise fingerprint model with known properties and features that can be used to calibrate existing technology used to match fingerprints. This model will help in having more accurate study of fingerprint matching systems and will also help in improving security technology. It will also be a revolutionary invention in the field of forensics.

Joint Military Exercise of Nepal and India


Joint Military exercise of Nepal and India is being held at Salijhandi, Nepal. The name of the exercise is Ex-Surya Kiran Drills 4 which is a two week exercise. This exercise will cover rescue operations, management operations and conduct of disaster response.

Biocon launches healthcare programme in Odisha


Biotech major Biocon in partnership with Canara Bank and Odisha government has initiated an e-healthcare programme for the underprivileged and rural communities in the state. This initiative was taken as a CSR objective of Biocon. The scheme is implemented on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis and would later access to quality healthcare for 51,000 villages in Odisha. Canara bank has lent its support to the scheme and a MoU has been signed for that.

International women of Courage award


Indian acid attack survivor Lakshmi has been awarded with the coveted “International Women of Courage Award” by U.S.A.’s first lady Michelle Obama for her campaign against acid attacks in the country. Lakshmi was attacked aith acid at the age of 16 in Delhi and she later joined hands with an NGO to work for helping such women.

India Ratings predicted growth rate of India


India Ratings has projected a growth rate of 5.6% for the fiscal year 2014-15 which is lower than the prediction by Union govt. at 6%. IMF has projected a growth rate of 5.4 per cent while NCAER says it will be 5.6 per cent. The World Bank has given an estimate of 6 per cent. Growth in 2013-14 is estimated at 4.9 per cent.
