Google Purchases Titan Aerospace: A Rapid Stride for Internet Connectivity

Web giant Google has attained a massive success by purchasing Titan Aerospace. Its latest acquisition of Titan Aerospace could lead to major advancements in internet connectivity to be beamed from balloons and drones. The Titan Aerospace team will work in conjunction with Google to develop balloons which will provide internet in rural areas. Google’s Project Loon will take the help of personnel from Titan Aerospace to make a massive difference to the way the world connects to the internet. Titan Aerospace is most famous for its solar powered drones.

These drones fly at heights of nearly 19.8 kilometres above sea level. This company has yet to demonstrate the working of its solar powered drones. Facebook had a bit of a tussle with Google regarding the big deal. But it was Google that emerged the winner in this deal. FB was also interested in the 11,000 Solara drones manufactured by Titan Aerospace for its worldwide internet project. However, the company hired a team from Ascenta instead for developing similar technology. As both FB and Google scramble to build their internet networks, it becomes a battle for supremacy like never before. However, Mark Zuckerberg did indicate that drones would do a better job of spurring internet connectivity as against balloons.

Rural internet coverage has always been a huge issue for developed as well as developing nations. While countries across the world are oriented towards increasing internet usage for rural villages, initiatives such as those taken up by Google can have wondrous benefits for this purpose. Titan Aerospace could also provide crucial data gathering services to support Google maps in voice and data services.

Google’s purchase of robot companies in 2013 was a special effort to develop technologies for airborne data collection and automobile logistics. Google has even bought Boston Dynamics for its ambitious plans. Google may also be working on the GATAMAM which is the Google All Terrain Automated Mapper and Analyzer and Manipulator for gathering data to support its services. Its acquisition of Titan Aerospace may therefore be an important step in this direction.

Titan Aerospace works towards capitalizing on technology and atmospheric satellites to enhance the quality of life of different people. It is still early to say what type of advancements in technology may come out of the partnership between Google and Titan Aerospace but the stage looks set for new innovations in the field of rural internet coverage. Internet connection in remote rural areas is a must if the benefits of growth and development have to spread evenly across the nation. Research, testing and design will form a major chunk of the activities carried out by Titan Aerospace and Google.

Titan Aerospace is responsible for many innovations in harnessing solar power for drones. This company is located in New Mexico. It attracted bids from FB before Google won the battle. Project Loon is an attempt by Google to revolutionize internet coverage in secluded or rural areas. Google aims towards spreading internet through the use of balloons which are located at high altitudes. Each of these balloons will be located at the height of 12 miles or 20 kilometres in the earth’s stratosphere. Facebook and Google are making rapid advancements in technology to bring about a change in the way the internet is available in isolated and rural areas.

Google has stolen a march over FB when it comes to acquiring the superior technology of Titan Aerospace. Project Loon is an imaginative and creative way to spread the wonders of internet connectivity in areas which are previously untouched. Rural internet connectivity can also boost the development of industries in these areas. Many of the underdeveloped rural areas in countries such as India will experience immense benefits from this wonderful achievement. It is only through the focused attempts of corporate giants such as Google that the world can access the best technology for its benefit.

Google’s slogan “Don’t be evil” is a motivating and positive message. This internet giant has one of the best search engines in the world. Google has great potential to expand further and the acquisition of Titan Aerospace is only the first step in this direction.
