• Each Anganwadi/NandGhar will be treated as a centre where education can be received by children and they can also engage in play activities and access nutrition.

• Place can be used as a community centre for women of the centre to share thoughts and feelings.

• Centre will also be a platform for skill development.

Features

• These PPP anganwadi centres will be adding to the existing model of the Ministry’s Integrated Women and Child Development Scheme.

• This centre will act as a focus for immunisation, maternal care and gender sensitisation.

• This is an integrated anganwadi model which provides smart education, mobile vans, health awareness and skill training.

• These centres will be run as shared space wherein 50% of the time will be allocated for the education of children and skill development will support the remaining half.

• NandGhar structure also has a low maintenance cost across its lifetime and it is spacious with ample light.

• It is also fire, earthquake and dampness proof.

• It offers a host of amenities of smart education via interactive graphics.

• Safe drinking water, hygienic toilets and a dedicated kitchen as well as storage space are other features of the NandGhar.

• The NandGhar runs on solar panel power.

Facts and Stats

• Land for the NandGhar will be provided by Gram Panchayats.

• Around 4000 modern model NandGhars will be established across the nation as per the new initiative.

• The first model and modern Anganwadi NandGhar Model based on PPP is at Hasanpur village in Haryana’s Sonipat district.

• These multifunctional NandGhars will benefit over 4 lakh women and children.
