Mouj Majah was launched in 1924 at Bombay by JK Dwivedi. The Bengali film weekly, Bijoli, was started in 1920 and it was also one of the earliest magazines of India. Film journals like Photoplay was started in Calcutta in 1926. The influential film periodical named Chitrapat was launched in Bombay. It was edited by Naginlal Shah. Batayan and Chitralekha, the two other Bengali weeklies were launched in 1931.
