▼ Jute made compulsory for packing food grains and sugar-CCEA   [01-23-15]

It will be minimum 90 per cent of production in case of food grains and 20 per cent for sugar. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA, has approved providing financial support to the Jute Corporation of India, JCI. The subsidy will be provided subsidy to JCI on a continuous basis to off-set the losses on account of Minimum Support Price (MSP) operations.

India had in 2012 imposed some prohibitions with regard to importation of various agricultural products from the US because of concerns related to Avian Influenza. This import prohibition is maintained through India's Avian Influenza measures, mainly, the Indian Livestock Importation Act, 1898.
