She has become the first woman and British citizen as well as 66 year old to hold this post. Dominica born Scotland succeeded India’s Kamalesh Sharma and will take on the position w.e.f 2016. Scotland has been selected during the 24th biennial CHOGM in Malta on 27th November 2015.

P Uday Bhaskar was appointed as Chairperson of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission on 26th November 2015. There has been no permanent chairman of this public service commission since 2014, when member Sivanarayana was interim chairman and retired in June 2015. Dr Uday Bhaskar is a professor of Civil Engineering and Director of Foreign Universities and Alumni Relations of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTU-K). He is also Director at the latter institute and is an IIT-Kanpur alumnus.

Sunil Kanoria on 25th November 2015 has been appointed as President of the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India, succeeding YES Bank MD and CEO Rana Kapoor. Kanoria has an amazing record as a finance expert and brought INR 34000 crore rupees of consolidated assets under SREI, one of the first NBFCs to be listed on LSE.

Citrix has made the announcement that Tim Minahan is joining its executive team as the Chief Marketing Officer. He will report to interim CEO, president and executive chairman Bob Calderoni. He will be responsible for the firm’s marketing strategy. He came to Citrix from SAP and previously also worked at Ariba.

She has been nominated as ED to ADB with ambassadorial rank by US President Barack Obama. She will succeed Robert M. Orr who held this position till 2010. She is the first Indian American to be elected to Iowa House of Representatives in 2003 and win a state legislature seat in the United States.

Harshvardhan Neotia, Chairman of Ambuja Neotia group was elected as FICCI president for the year 2016. Neotia will succeed current president Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson and MD of Bharat Hotels Ltd during the AGM in December 2015. Neotia is the Senior VP of FICCI currently. He is also a Padma Shri awardee and chairman of Abuja Neotia Group covering the complete spectrum of the real estate industry.

Home furnishings retailer Home Lane dot com has hired Google executive J. Mysore as its Chief Product Officer. Mysore played a key role in developing of Google Checkout, Google Maps and Google Analytics. He is a business graduate from Kellogg School of Management and adviser to many Fortune 500 firms.

Direct to home service provider Dish TV has appointed Arun Kumar Kapoor as CEO w.e.f November 23, 2015. Company has nominated Kapoor as Key Managerial Personnel of company under applicable provisions of Companies Act 2013 and Listing Agreement. R.C. Venkateish has resigned as CEO of Dish TV in October 2015.

MakeMyTrip has appointed Deepak Tuli, former co-founder and COO at Goibibo as senior VP, growth business. He will implement and build strategies for new business lines in his new role. He has a deep understanding of e-commerce ecosystems. Tuli has 10 years of experience in the field and has also worked with Yatra.

Senior-most judge of the Supreme Court Justice T S Thakur was appointed the next Chief Justice of India and will take over w.e.f from December 3. President has appointed Justice Thakur as the next CJI with effect from December 3. Born on January 4, 1952, he will retire in January 2017. Justice Thakur was designated as a senior advocate in 1990. He took over as CJ of Punjab and Haryana HC in 2008.

Currently the country’s Ambassador to Germany, he will be replacing Ashok Kantha whose term will end in early January. He is a 1981 batch IFS officer. He will replace Kantha as envoy to China for a 2 year term.

He became the first Indian to be conferred with this honour.The honour was conferred by Margarete Wahlstrom, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General during meeting for Sendai Framework for DRR in Asia.

Zarin Daruwala was on 17th November 2015 appointed as CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, India succeeding Sunil Kaushal, who was appointed as Regional CEO for Africa and West Asia. She will report directly to Ajay Kanwal, Regional Chief Executive Officer of ASEAN & South Asia. She is currently a president in the bank and has 25 years of experience in the industry.

Professor Senapaty has joined as director of National Council of Educational Research and Training on 16th November 2015. Before his, he was the principal of Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal. Senapaty is a alumnus of BJB College, Bhubaneswar and Devi Ahilya Bai University, Indore. He started his career with NCERT as associate professor in education of RIE, Bhopal. His area of specialisation is teacher education and ICTE, and he is a UNESCO expert in this field.

Former Indian Premier League Chief Operating Officer Sundar Raman has joined Reliance Industries Limited as Chief Executive Officer-Sports. He is joining Reliance as CEO sports and will work to consolidate and integrate RIL sports portfolio including Foundation Activities in Sports. RIL is involved in many sports ventures and JVs.

Akbaruddin has been appointed as the next Permanent Representative of India to the UN at NY replacing Asoke Kumar Mukerji who assumed the office in April 2013. He will head the Indian diplomatic mission to the UN and enunciating on the country’s stand in the global forum. He is a 1985 batch IFS officer serving as Additional Secretary in MEA currently. He also served as MEA spokesperson and was Chief Coordinator of successful India Africa Foreign Summit held in New Delhi from 26 October to 29 October 2015. Other diplomats who have been permanent reps of India to UN include Nirupam Sen, Hardeep Singh Puri and Brajesh C Mishra.

Former RBI Deputy Governor Subir Gokarn was appointed on 12th November as the ED on the IMF Board.Mr. Gokarn’s name was cleared by Appointments Committee of Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.He has replaced Mr. Rakesh Mohan at the IMF.

RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Bank for International Settlements on 10th November 2015. He has been appointed to a 3 year term and will joined the BIS board of directors in December 2013. The BIS Chairman is Jens Weidmann. He is also president of the Bundesbank of Germany.

Former CJ of the Delhi HC, Justice AP Shah was on 9th November 2015 appointed as ethics officer at BCCI and will be the sole decision maker for conflicting interest issues faced by Indian cricket. Decision for appointing the ombudsman was taken at the 86th AGM to end conflict of interest on Board. This is being seen as a clean up operation of the BCCI. Clean up operation has been triggered by the IPL scandal investigated by SC appointed Justice Lodha committee. Justice Shah was chairman of the 20th Law Commission of India and Chairman of the Committee constituted by the Union Ministry of Finance.

Veteran IPS officer K. B. Singh took over as the new DGP of Odisha on November 8, 2015. He is a UP born 1985 batch Odisha cadre officer. He replaced Sanjiv Marik who was removed from his post prior to two months before his retirement. Marik had taken charge from 1977 batch IPS officer Prakash Mishra.

He was appointed on 5th November 2015 and has also been given regional responsibilities including Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. He will also join the Asia Education Divisional board of the company. He follows Ranjan Kaul who retired in November 2015 after working for a decade and a half with OUP. Chief Justice H L Dattu on 4 November 2015 recommended Justice Teerth Singh Thakur to be the next (43rd) Chief Justice of India.He will be appointed as the highest-ranking judge in the Supreme Court of India on 2nd December 2015 and 4th January 2017. He is former acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court who later took over as CJ of Punjab and Haryana High Court. On 17 November 2009, he was elevated to the SC.

In the new role, Chatterjee will be responsible for all consumer experience across desktop as well as mobile and will report to Punit Soni, Chief Product Officer, the company indicated in a release. He has been appointed as Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Growth and Experience on 4th November 2015. He is a former Google executive.

RBI on 2nd November 2015 has appointed Deepak Singhal as the Executive Director and this appointment will take place from that day itself. He replaced KK Vohra who now will manage the DICGC. He will look after Central Security Cell, Corporate Strategy and Budget Department, Department of Corporate Services, Human Resource Management Department (including HR Operations Unit), Rajbhasha Department and Right to Information Act Division. Before his appointment as ED, he had worked as Regional Director in charge of RBI, New Delhi.

Patel took charge in November 2015 and has 30 years of experience in the banking sector. He succeeded CVR Rajendra who retired in April 2015 to become CEO of Association of Mutual Funds in India. Patel has also worked with Dena Bank and Oriental Bank of Commerce. He is also a certified member of Indian Institute of Bankers.

Republican Paul Ryan was on 30th October 2015 elected as the 5th speaker of the US house of Representatives. Only 9 House Republicans voted against him and he fetched votes of 236 members . Ryan succeeds John Boehner of Ohio. He was sworn in as Speaker of the House and the nine-term congressman from Wisconsin, becomes the third Catholic in a row in the position, after John Boehner and Nancy Pelosi. He started working on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide in 1992 and won his House seat in 1998 when he was 28.

Online fashion marketplace Jabong announced the appointment of S. Mohanty as CMD. He has over 2 decades of experience in the fashion industry and worked with Benetton as well. Prior to this, he worked at Madura Garments, SF Jeans and Levi Strauss. Another recent appointment was of CMO Saurabh Srivastava.

DG of National Investigation Agency will continue to be the chief of the anti terror agency for an additional year. Shared Kumar was superannuating on 31st October till the appointments committee of the cabinet approved a proposal for his reappointment. He is an IPS officer of ’79 batch, Haryana cadre and was appointed as NIA Chief in 2013.

1983 batch Indian Forest Service Officer Amarinder Kaur has become the first woman in India to head Haryana’s state forest department. She has been appointed as principal chief conservator o forests and will take over the new assignment on November 1, 2015. Dr Kaur will replace Mr. Jattan who is superannuating. She formed the separate women empowerment cell in the forest department of the state in June 2011, the first ever in the nation.
