The BJP has now become the largest political party in the world by registering highest number of members. Till yesterday, the party had registered 8.8 Crore members. The figure is more than China's ruling party Communist Party China that has 8.6 Crore members.

In a communiqué from President Pranab Mukherjee’s office said Dr. Aziz Qureshi ceased to hold the office of the Governor of Mizoram and Keshari Nath Tripathi, Governor of West Bengal, would discharge the functions of the Governor of Mizoram, in addition to his own duties.

▼ Union Cabinet approves 33% reservation in non gazetted posts for women in each category   [03-29-15]

The Cabinet also approved that suitable enabling provisions in the Recruitment Rules should be made accordingly by all UTs police forces including Delhi Police. The reservation will be available to women against all such vacancies existing on the date of issue of the order after Cabinet approval and vacancies arising thereafter.

The resolution said that Mr Badal has been honoured in recognition with his continued services for the welfare of poor, dalits and farmers and this is a prestigious honour for all the Punjabis across the globe.

The court also summoned industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, former coal secretary PC Parakh, two officials of Hindalco for alleged offences of criminal conspiracy, cheating etc. Manmohan Singh was reportedly questioned by the CBI in January and the agency is said to have asked him about a coal field in Talabira block that was allotted in 2005 to Hindalco, whose chairman is KM Birla.

▼ Telangana to launch e-Panchayat programme   [03-27-15]

Telangana government has decided to launch the E-Panchayat programme in 18 Village Panchayats in Domokonda of Nizamabad district initially. All the e-panchayat centres will be managed only by literate women members of the village after giving necessary training.

The objective of the programme is to bring out a totally error-free and authenticated electoral roll. The Election Commission attaches highest priority to the maintenance of electoral roll without any defects, errors and multiple entries. The programme would take into consideration the summary revision of electoral rolls with respect to January 1, 2015.

▼ Charges filed against Digivijay Singh in State Cabinet Secretariat appointment irregularities   [03-27-15]

In Madhya Pradesh, an FIR has been lodged against former chief minister Digvijay Singh, former Speaker of the state Legislative Assembly Shriniwas Tiwari and 17 others, in connection with alleged irregularities in appointments in the State Assembly Secretariat. Different Sections of the IPC, including Section 420, have been slapped against the accused.

PDP leader Mufti Mohamemd Sayeed took oath as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Nirmal Singh of BJP has been made the Deputy Chief Minister in PDP-BJP government. Along with Sayeed, 24 Ministers, 13 from PDP and 11 from BJP and its supporters also took oath. Governor NN Vohra administered the oath of office at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University on 1st Mar’15.
