I am a class 12th student and came across this course. I am interested in crime branch services. What are the career prospects of BA Criminology and Police Administration?

Criminology is a study of crimes both at social and individual level. The branch of criminology and police administration offer jobs both at public and private sectors. With the increasing crime rate, the employment rate in this field is expected to rise to a good extent within couple of years. Criminology offers work in varied sectors from counselling, forensic, law enforcement, medical investigation, retail investigation, to teaching and much more. The vacancies usually come up with educational institutions and Government organizations, Corporate and financial institutions, social welfare organizations and NGOs, Law firms, police departments, drug enforcement agencies etc.

Police administration, on the other hand, holds designations like Chief of police, director of security operations etc. Their main responsibility is of

- hiring police officers, sergeants and captains,
- overseeing the staff and police department
- developing budgets, and
- managing community relationships to reduce the crime rate.
