Career to pursue - interesting but without much scope or any field that can get high salary.

Aerospace Engineering is my field of interest. I have passed my 12th PCM with above 90% aggregate. But people ask me to take some other field as this one has minimal scope. What should I do? Pursue aerospace engineering as per my interest or choose a career that could yield huge salary output in future?

It is very important that the student pursue education according to the field of passion. It does not imply that those who refuse for the aerospace study are wrong in their reasoning, they definitely have got their valid point of lesser opportunities both in the field of study and job opportunities.

Aerospace study has very few colleges in India. Bangalore being the core center for scope in the field of Aerospace in India, it attracts very few students for pursuing the same as career. This is one of the points for having relatively less competition. Students showing interest in aerospace mainly aim for ISRO or NASA. They do not foresee any career beyond these organizations. They should accept the fact that not every student makes their way to these reputed organization and others in the field do find their way to have a career ahead. Students need to plan out their career beyond getting in these organizations.

It is again true that aerospace does not provide many opportunities for career beyond research. And getting to the research field is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is not just the interest and passion in the field of study but also the affordability factor comes into play.

Students can start their graduation with some generalized form of engineering platform like mechanical engineering and then aim for the aerospace and aeronautical study in their post-graduation and further education. This assures some wide range of job opportunities for the students those who fail to make their career through aerospace. However, one thing remains the basis of study is interest. Student need to pursue their field of study with interest to learn and grasp the knowledge for having a successful career ahead.
