Failed with science stream. Can I reappear with commerce?

I have failed in my 12th board exam with science stream. Everyone was after me to take up commerce and it was my decision to pursue science in my higher secondary. Is it possible for me to reappear for the boards with commerce stream instead of science?

Failing in a subject or two in the 12th standard does not call for repeating a year. Students are given the option of giving the compartment examination and allowed to pass the subject. The marks for the 12th standard are considered with the passing marks in compartment examination that is the one that forms the final percentage. Student should be marching ahead with their career courageously instead of looking back to the failures and repeating the same episodes.

Still, if the student has failed in many subjects devoid of the option of compartment, they can go ahead repeating the year with the same stream. However, for changing the stream of study, it would be repeating a 2 year study as the stream can be chosen only at the 11th standard.

Student who wants to get into commerce, can give the improvement examination in science and then change the stream at the graduation level. Science students have the option to change to any of the stream viz commerce, arts or humanities at the graduation level. Instead of looking back and wasting 2 years of career, an advisable option would be to focus on the improvement examination and then attempt to change the stream at the graduation level.
