Medical electronics and engineering is an integrated engineering with biomedical sciences which requires the combination of designing and problem solving skills of an engineer along with the knowledge of medical and biological sciences for developing effective tools for the healthcare sector. It helps to promote bio-signal processing, medical imaging, biosensors etc. Those interested in higher studies in same field can pursue M.E. or M Tech. in Medical Electronics

As of now, this field has a very limited scope in India. It is expected to grow well in the near future. Still, when talking of taking this course for study, the candidates can always choose the Electronics Engineering as the medical electronics is a subcategory for Electronics engineering. An electronic engineer can apply for job in the medical electronic field but the vice-versa is not possible. This narrows the job scope for a Medical Electronics Engineer.

Medical electronics engineer can find their career in

- Research laboratories
- Developing medical software
- Hospitals maintaining medical equipment
- Medical institutions etc.
