Potential to express talent at the earliest

Asked by: Guest - 20 May 16
An interviewer asked me the time I would take to express my potential for the benefit of the organization. I gave a term of a month or so, however my reply didn’t appeal to the interviewer. What should have been my reply?

Such a question is often asked to determine whether the candidate can start contributing to the organization right away. This is not the right time to go with the flow of the interviewer. The reply should be genuine and acceptable. Even the interviewer understands that the candidate needs time to gain the process knowledge and process requirement to start their work. Candidate should ideally accept this logical path and assure the interviewer that they are talented enough to grasp the requirements at minimal time.

Candidate should explain their fast grasping power and adaptability to new situations. They should inform the interviewer their eagerness to start delivering and adding to the benefit of the organization at the earliest. The candidate need to analyse the words of the interviewer and understand their intent whether the contribution expected is in respect to add to the production of the organization or do they expect any big achievements. Candidate should humbly inform the interviewer that they need a decent period of 6 months to a year (whichever the candidate feels comfortable to get adjusted in the profile) to actually deliver anything special from their hidden potential.
