Abbas Kiarostami, a critically acclaimed Iranian director died on July 4 2016 following prolonged illness in France.
  • He died in Paris at the age of 76 and is survived by two sons.
  • His film Taste of Cherry won the Palme d’Or in 1997.
  • Kiarostami wrote as well as directed dozens of films over an illustrious career of more than 40 years
  • In 1977, he made the first feature length film entitled Report that is about a tax collector making money through bribes.
