    - Co-ordinate measuring machines are used for layout and inspection of complex components. They are also used as an integral part of FMS system. They are 3-D marking and measuring systems used for accurate measurement.

    - Co-ordinate measuring machines have high accuracy and precision than conventional measuring machines. They are used to inspect and mark variety of different sizes and shapes.

    - Gantry type co-ordinate measuring machine is used for measuring large workpieces. These provide reliable data without any human error. Gantry co-ordinate measuring machines have low uncertainty, minimum friction and vibration free movements. They use inductive and electronic transducers for measurement.

    - Cantilever co-ordinate measuring machine are easy to load and unload. They provide less rigidity when compared with other machine designs.
