Award is conferred each year on artists on 24th April to commemorate the death anniversary of Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar. The award was instituted in the year 1999 in memory of Dinanath Mangeshkar, father of Lata Mangeshkar. It is awarded to people for outstanding contributions to music and movie.
