Tahiliani, who led the Indian Navy for 3 decades and was also the first to land on deck of INS Vikrant paving the way for carrier based aviation in Indian Navy. He is also a winner of the AVSM and PVSM medals and served as Governor of the State of Sikkim from 1990 to 1994.
