    - The ratio of maximum torque and average torque is called as application factor. It depends upon prime mover, hours of operation and machine to be driven.

    - Mechanical elements are subjected to high momentary torque and this torque is called as service factor or application factor or overload factor.

    - Ka = Tmax / Ta

    Here, Tmax = peak torque and Ta = average torque
