Arctic council has eight member countries: Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and the United States. Observer status is open to non-Arctic states approved by the Council at the Ministerial Meetings that occur once every two years. China, India, Italy, Japan, Singapore ,South Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom, France, Germany are observers of Arctic council.
