    Bifilar suspension

    - Bifilar suspension apparatus is used to determine mass moment of inertia of a rigid body.

    - In this method, the rigid body is suspended by two long parallel strings. The rigid body is twisted by an angle θ about vertical axis and when released oscillates with S.H.M.

    If wires or strings are attached at different distances, periodic time of oscillation is given as

    tp = 2 π k √(l / gxy)

    If wires or strings are attached at equal distances, periodic time of oscillation is given as

    tp = [(2 π k) / x] / √(l / g) ------------------ (since x = y)
