  • It seeks to end discrimination and strengthen existing programmes by bringing in legal accountability and establishing formal mechanisms for redressing complaints
  • The amendment also provides for informed consent and confidentiality with regard to treatment and protection of the rights of those with HIV-AIDS
  • Listing various grounds of discrimination, the amendment also enhances access to health care by ensuring informed consent and confidentiality for HIV related testing, clinical research and treatment
