    - The model or replica of casting which is used to make a cavity or mould is called as pattern. The different materials used for making pattern are wood, metals,plastic, polystyrene, etc.

    - Mould is defined as the cavity which conforms to shape of the component and in which the molten metal is poured to obtain the desired shape.

    - Cope and drag: Cope is defined as upper part of two part casting flask and drag is defined as lower part of two part casting flask.
