    - Even though the metal removal during machining after forging is minimum, the initial cost of die and the cost of their maintenance is high.

    - Forging process is only restricted to simple shapes whereas complex shapes can be manufactured by casting at lower cost than that of forging.

    - Also the tooling in casting is less expensive than the forge dies.

    - Therefore, casting process is cheaper than forging.
