The components of acceleration of a fluid particle are on the basis of how does the velocity of the particle change in a fluid flow. The tangential component of acceleration which is due to the change in magnitude of velocity along the stream line is a tangential acceleration. The normal component of acceleration which is due to the direction of velocity vector is called as normal acceleration.
