    - Data Encryption Standard (DES) is a symmetric-key algorithm for the encryption of electronic data.

    - Data Encryption Standard (DES) is a Block Cipher

    - DES uses a 56-bit encryption key. The key itself is specified with 8 bytes, but one bit of each byte is used as a parity check.

    - DES is the block cipher that takes a fixed length string of plaintext bits and transforms it through a series of complicated operation into another ciphertext bits string of the same length.

    - DES is a 64 bit block cipher which means that it encrypts data 64 bits at a time.

    - 64 bit block cipher as it uses the same key for both encryption and decryption.
