    - The decision of what parts to be manufactured and what parts to be purchased from market is one of the purposes of process planning.

    - Process planning is a fundamental part of the industrial activity. The effective and economic process planning leads the organization towards the success but faulty planning creates delay and low performance in every stage of manufacturing.

    - Process planning involves the activities like planning a method or series of methods for manufacturing of the product at reasonable price by drawing or deciding specification of the product.

    - Other purposes of process planning are to determine the most economical process for manufacturing, to determine the sequence of operation in the manufacturing system etc.
