    • Quarter turn belt drive with guide pulley is used when axes of two shafts are intersecting and perpendicular. If axes of two shafts are perpendicular and non- intersecting, guide pulley is not required in quarter turn belt drive.

    • When shafts are parallel open belt drives are used. Stepped or cone pulley drive is used to obtain various spindle speeds in lathes for constant motor speed.
