Dr. Basu has taken over as Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary DAE on 23rd October 2015. Dr. R. K. Sinha remitted his office following superannuation after 42 years of service. Dr. Basu was previously the Director of BARC and has also worked as Project Director of Nuclear Submarine Programme and later as the Chief Executive of the Nuclear Recycle Board in the same institute.
