    - Drill and practice software provides an opportunity for students to work on one problem at a time and then receive feedback on their performance.

    - It is used as a means to learn new content or to review content.

    - It provides immediate feedback and student can work at own pace.

    - It promotes the acquisition of knowledge or skills and emphasize the learning of the facts through systematic training by multiple repetitions, rehearse, practice etc.

    - Drill and practice can be classified into three categories :

      - Flash Card Activities : It allows students to create a set of flashcards and then practice using the flashcards one at a time. Flashcard activity websites such as Quizlet, Study Blue etc.

      - Branching Drills : In this, the software moves students to more advanced, difficult levels after they answer a specific number of questions correct. The software also sends a student down to lower levels if they answer too many questions incorrectly.

      - Extensive Feedback Activities : In this drill, the student may get more than a right or wrong response from the software. The software is designed to give detailed feedback to the student instructing them on what they got wrong.

    - Drills can provide an important practice phase of instruction and can be useful for learning information that requires fluency, such as math skills, vocabulary, spelling and foreign languages.
