  - The diagram shown in question is of fixed type support pin.
  
  - Support pins and jack pins are one of the types of locating devices which are used to place the workpiece in same position cycle after cycle in jigs and fixtures.
  
  - The support pins are used to eliminate the errors occur when the work is clamped directly in the body of jig and fixture and an unevenness gives an improper support.
  
  - There are mainly two types of support pins or rest buttons.
  
  1. Fixed type support pins or rest buttons
  2. Adjustable type support pins or rest buttons
  
  - Other types are support pads, spring type jack pin, wedge type jack pin, jack screw and stop pn.
