ω2 r (cos θ + cos 2θ / n) is the formula to calculate angular acceleration of the piston in IC engines.

Rate of change of velocity with respect to time is called as acceleration.

    Velocity (Vp) = ω r [sin θ + (sin 2θ / 2√n2 – sin2 θ)]

    Acceleration (Ap) = d Vp / dt

    Acceleration (Ap) = d {ω r [sin θ + (sin 2θ / 2√n2 – sin2 θ)]} / dt

    = ω2 r (cos θ + cos 2θ / n)
