    - Diametral pitch is defined as the ratio of number of teeth and pitch circle diameter. It is also called as diametrical pitch.

    - Diametral pitch is used to classifying gears. It is necessary because whenever a gear is designed diametral pitch helps in determining size and shape of the interlocking gear.

    - The interlocking gears should have same measurements to make them work properly. The ratio of diametral pitch of first gear to the second gear should to be same as the ratio of number of teeth on one gear to the second gear.
