    If gears are manufactured by hobbing process followed by shaving permissible pitch line velocity is considered less than 30 m/s and velocity factor is calculated using the formula 5.6 /(5.6 +√V). These gears have medium accuracy level and usually IS grades of 6,7,8 or 9 are used.
