ANSWER: Shipwright School

- INS Vishwakarma is the Shipwright School and a premier training establishment of the Indian Navy, will be commissioned by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R.K. Dhowan.
- Shipwright School (SWS) was established at INS Shivaji in 1941 for training shipwright artificers of Indian Navy and was subsequently shifted to Naval Barracks, Mumbai (now INS Angre) in 1943.
- It was shifted to the present premises at Visakhapatnam in 1981 as a dedicated training establishment with independent facilities for training of shipwright apprentices.
- In keeping with the Navy’s thrust towards indigenisation and ‘Make in India’ the role of the Shipwright School has assumed greater significance today in honing our warship and submarine design.
