    The exponential law of reliability specifies the relationship between the reliability and system failure especially upon the application of constant failure rate. This law can be mathematically represented as,

    R = e-λt
    where, t = operating time & λ = system failure rate

    This law concludes that, if an operating time is similar as that of MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), then there is a reduction in the probability of successful operation by 37%.

    Law also implies that the reduction continues further, if an operating time is estimated to be greater than the mean time between failures.
