    - Lead angle in single point cutting tool is the angle between side cutting edge and the side of the tool shank.

    - This angle is also known as side cutting edge angle.

    - As the tool enters the work material, interference may occur. This interference is avoided by the lead angle.

    - For general machining process, the value of lead angle or side cutting edge angle vary from 16º to 30º.
