    Silicone products provides good compatibility with standard LED substrates and processing methods. Use of silicones leads to an amelioration of HBLED devices with greater reliability and longevity.

    Silicones find their utility in High brightness LED packages for various reasons such as protection, light-extraction, optical parts fabrication and thermal management. Silicones provide usage of protective materials for semiconductor devices, optical clarity for high brightness and elastomer for the stress-relieving purpose.

    Silicones increase the light extraction by matching the refractive index of chip surface.

    Resins of silicones play a vital role in the formation of lenses. It is feasible to mold the silicones through several techniques such as cavity molding, injection molding,etc. Dow corning offers an engineering assistance for molding processes related to high volume manufacturing of silicone lenses.

    Silicones are applicable for thermal management because the use of special fillers reduces the thermal resistance and controls low stress properties.
