    - In forging process, sudden blow or steady pressure is applied on heated metal to deform it in desired shape.

    - Characteristics of plasticity of material is used in forging process.

    - It can be carried out at room temperature and also at raised temperature. The forging carried at raised temperature is called as warm or hot forging

    - Crankshafts and connecting rods, gears, wheels, hand tools, turbine discs are manufactured by forging.
