    - The machining carried out by an intense and unidirectional beam of light provided by laser, is called as Laser Beam Machining (LBM) process.

    - A high powered and focused laser beam is used as a machining tool in LBM process.

    - Any material can be machined by LBM process.

    - The Lase Beam Machining can be done in any transparent media of energy transfer like air, vacuum, inert gases and even certain liquids.

    - Metal removal in Lase Beam Machining process is carried out by melting and vaporisation.

    - The workpiece is not subjected to large mechanical forces as there is no mechanical contact between the tool and the workpiece.
