Basically, the documentation serves to be a foundation that provides the understanding of products as well as promotes the capabilities and utilities of product. The patterns & objectives of documentation vary in accordance to the type of documentation with respect to architecture, technical, end-user and marketing prospects.

The documentation which includes some proportional materials for encouraging the casual observers to spend more learning time about the product, is known as 'Marketing Documentation'. Provision of product briefs and promotional collateral are the major objectives of marketing documentation.

Marketing documentation is used to excite the potential user about the product. It also finds its utility in informing about the function of product so that it can meet the desired expectations.

Explaining the position of product is necessary because by comparison of the product with similar other product gives an idea of differentiable quality of product.
