    Trifilar suspension system

Trifilar suspension system or torsion pendulum is used to determine mass moment of inertia of disc or flywheel.

This disc or flywheel is suspended by three strings. If they are rotated by an angle θ through centre of gravity and released, they oscillate with simple harmonic motion.

    Frequency of oscillation = [ (x / 2 k π) √g / l ] cycles / sec

Periodic time of oscillation = 1 / fn
