    - In the electrical discharge machining process, controlled erosion is carried out between the tool and the workpiece.

    - The tool acts as cathode and whereas the workpiece acts as anode, in this erosion process.

    - These two electrodes (the tool as cathode and the workpiece as anode) are separated by dielectric medium.

    - The tool materials used in electrical discharge machining (EDM) process are brass, copper and graphite.
