    - Linear variable differential transformer measures force, displacement, pressure, etc.

    - It is a mutual inductive transducer that converts linear displacement into an electrical signal.

    - Absence of hysteresis increases repeatability. It consists of three coils wound on a non-magnetic tube.

    - LVDT is used as a primary transducer. They have no physical contact between movable core and coil structure.

    - Dynamic response of LVDT is limited by excitation frequency.

    - Transducers have high sensitivity.

    - Excitation frequency limits the the dynamic response of LVDT's.

    - Standard LVDT's have sensitivity of 1 to 2 mV/V/0.01 mm with excitation frequency of 2 to 5 kHz.
