    - Mechanical comparators such as sigma comparator, Johansson Mikrocator are compact, robust and easy to handle. The scale system used in mechanical comparators leads to parallax error which is caused due to wrong visualization.

    - Mechanical comparators are sensitive to vibrations due to high inertia.

    - The accuracy of instruments is affected due to friction between moving parts.

    - The range of mechanical comparators is limited.

    - They are easy to measure due to linear scale and do not require any external source of energy.
