    Inspection by variables :

    - Actual measurement of any specific dimension can be done by using variable control charts such as R chart and
    X chart. This measurement obtains numerical value of the measured quantity.

    - They are easy to calibrate and are faster than attributes gaging.

    - The data generated by variables is continuous.

    Inspection by attributes:

    - Inspection by attributes is carried out in mass production systems. No numerical values are obtained in this measurement. Fast inspection of products can be done by using comparators, Go and No Go gauges. In this type of inspection, inspector checks whether the product obtained is acceptable or have to be rejected.

    - They are subjected to greater wear.

    - The data generated by attributes is discreet.
