ANSWER: e-Tourist visa

Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Home Affairs as well as MEA have eased the visa regime in the country over a period of time. The initiative has been supported with the implementation of e-Tourist Visa earlier known as Tourist Visa on Arrival enabled with Electronic Travel Authorisation.
  • E-tourist visa enables the prospective visitor to apply for Indian Visa from the home country without visiting the Indian Mission or paying the visa fee online. Applicant then receives an email authorising him/her to travel to India and he/she can travel with print out of this authorisation.
  • On arrival, visitor has to present authorisation to the immigration authorities who then stamp the entry into the country
  • Facility is available to foreigners whose sole objective of visiting India is medical or regular tourism or a business visit.
  • e-TV is available for members of 113 nations
